National Park Week 2020

eco friendly knit beanie Smeeny beanie knits

Last week was National Park week and another awesome cause for celebration during Earth month!

Through Smeeny Beanie Knits, I aspire to be an eco-friendly brand and have a lighter footprint on our planet. I also hope to encourage you to do so too! As we now enter May, we should remember that every day is earth day!

We don’t have to do it all, we just need to do our best.

I and Smeeny Beanie Knits are certainly not perfect either, but I try to remind myself that every little bit can make a huge difference! Right now, I have officially transitioned all of our packaging materials to 100% post consumer recycled and recyclable. I am also transitioning to offering mostly 100% ethical and sustainable wool products. I do still have a few wool and acrylic blends and premium acrylic styles, but most of the Smeeny Beanie Knits lines are now 100% eco-friendly!

Now to the exciting news!

During National Park Week, I released the Bee Wild Beanie and pledged to donate $1 from every Bee Wild Beanie Pattern sold to the National Park Foundation in addition to my usually 5% of all profits. Well, let me tell ya…between $1 donated for every Bee Wild Beanie pattern sold, to 5% of all profits donated, to very generous matching of contributions made in April, we have been able to make a total impact of

$1009 contributed to the National Park Foundation in 2020 so far!

I am absolutely thrilled and floored by your support! YOU are a huge part of making this happen and I am so grateful to have you in my community! All last week, I shared some of my favorite National Park memories and outdoor adventure stories on Instagram. It was so fun reliving those moments and sharing those stories with you! Maybe I should turn them into a mini blog post series?

Until next time, Stay Wild!
